2007 – Everlasting Gifts

Everlasting Gifts – December 2007

From the Director’s point of view, this show was risky business. It was Andrie Nel’s first attempt to write a full-length play which, in the best of times, would be a daunting feat! But custom-writing it to give all the kids sufficiently meaty parts added to the challenge. The second risk was the experiment to rehearse two groups separately and then glue the performances together right at the end. Both risks paid off, but there were lessons to be learned. (That goes to show that you’re never too old to stop learning!)

A big thank you to the devoted parents behind the scenes. Lisa, thank you for taking on the role of Producer and Karen, thank you for plugging in so many holes – especially figuring out how to make such adorable reindeer! Joyce, Linda, Torry, Mona, and Richard – thank you for your significant contributions as well! And, of course, a special shout out to Mark McEvoy for cheerfully stepping in to play the role of Mrs. – er Mr. – Radcliffe. Well done!
